Trauma Informed Psychotherapy for adults of all ages in Alpharetta, Georgia
Individual and family therapy
Virtually serving Greater Georgia, South Carolina & Florida.
Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy or therapy is a process whereby psychological problems and maladaptive behaviors are addressed and treated with the trained ear and objective perspective of a mental health professional. Gaining insight to problematic thoughts and behaviors, identifying strengths, problem solving, processing overwhelming feelings and learning healthy coping skills are just some of the ways therapy can help to promote growth and change. Building trust and rapport between client and therapist is believed within most therapeutic modalities to be the most important factor for productive therapy.
I provide a safe and comfortable atmosphere where I meet my clients at their 'stage of change' with kindness, empathy, and non-judgment. Each client will participate in the development of their individualized treatment plan. I draw from several therapeutic modalities including Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT) Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Based Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); I utilize the Biopsychosocialspiritual Lens when treating my clients that struggle with chemical dependency/addiction.
WHAT DOES "TRAUMA INFORMED' MEAN?
Trauma-informed care is an approach to therapy that recognizes how past experiences—especially overwhelming or distressing ones—can shape your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and nervous system.
Trauma can stem from many sources, including childhood experiences, relationship wounds, addiction, grief, or chronic stress. It often lives not just in the mind, but in the body—impacting how safe, connected, and regulated you feel day to day.
Rather than asking "What's wrong with you?", trauma-informed therapy explores "What happened to you?" and how your system adapted to cope. These adaptations—like anxiety, avoidance, or substance use—are understood as survival strategies, not failures.
Trauma-informed care is built on a foundation of:
- Safety – You are never pushed beyond your comfort level.
- Choice & Collaboration – Your voice and boundaries guide the process.
- Empowerment – Therapy focuses on your strengths and resilience.
- Trust & Transparency – Open, honest communication is encouraged.
This creates a space where healing can happen at your pace.
Trauma-informed therapy is gentle, collaborative, and paced according to your needs. You won't be asked to revisit painful experiences before you feel ready.
Our work together may include:
- Building coping and grounding skills
- Identifying patterns and emotional triggers
- Processing trauma safely and gradually
- Strengthening nervous system regulation
- Reconnecting with purpose, meaning, and self-trust
